About Animal Kingdom Crowds
Animal Kingdom is consistently the least crowded of the four Disney World theme parks — a fact that experienced visitors use to their advantage. When Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are rated HIGH, Animal Kingdom often runs at MODERATE. During weeks when the rest of Disney World is at EXTREME, Animal Kingdom may be HIGH. This relative quiet makes it an invaluable park to prioritize on busy trips.
The caveat: Animal Kingdom closes earlier than other Disney parks. Historically it has not offered nighttime entertainment shows, which means the park day is compressed. You'll want to arrive at or before rope drop and plan on being done by late afternoon. This actually works in your favor on hot summer days — finish the park by 3pm and cool off at your hotel before an evening at EPCOT or Magic Kingdom if you have a park hopper.
Avatar Flight of Passage in Pandora: The World of Avatar is the park's unmistakable crown jewel and its longest wait. On any crowd level above LOW, expect 60–90+ minute standby waits. Rope drop directly to Flight of Passage is the single most important strategy at Animal Kingdom. Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris are best done mid-morning. The safari is most rewarding early when animals are most active — before the heat of the afternoon sets in.

Top Tips for Animal Kingdom
Rope drop directly to Flight of Passage. This is non-negotiable on any crowd level. The line for Flight of Passage grows faster than almost any other Disney ride. Being in the first 15 minutes of guests can mean a 20-minute wait vs a 90-minute wait.
Do Kilimanjaro Safaris early. Animals are most active in cooler morning hours, and the safari experience is dramatically better before the Florida heat sets in. Aim for your first or second attraction of the day.
Plan for a half-day on low crowd days. Animal Kingdom can be fully experienced in 4–5 hours on a low crowd day. Pair it with a late afternoon at EPCOT or dinner at Disney Springs if you have extra time.
