About Hollywood Studios Crowds
Hollywood Studios is consistently the second-busiest park at Walt Disney World, and it's been that way since Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opened in 2019. The combination of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, and Tiana's Bayou Adventure โ all in a relatively compact park footprint โ means crowds concentrate quickly. When the park reaches capacity on spring break or holiday weeks, it fills up faster than any other Disney park.
The rope drop strategy here is especially critical. Rise of the Resistance almost always has the longest wait by 9:30am. Get there first. Many savvy visitors rotate: arrive at rope drop for Rise of the Resistance, then immediately cross to Slinky Dog Dash before the Toy Story Land crowds build. By 10am, both of those waits can be 60โ90 minutes even on moderate days. The rest of the park โ Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster โ is best enjoyed mid-morning or with Lightning Lane.
The park closes earlier than Magic Kingdom on most days (no extended evening shows), so your window for hitting major attractions is compressed. On HIGH or EXTREME crowd days, plan your Lightning Lane selections the moment the booking window opens at 7am. On LOW crowd days, Hollywood Studios is an absolute joy โ you can ride everything twice in a day without significant waits.

Top Tips for Hollywood Studios
Rope drop Rise of the Resistance first. This is the most immersive ride at Disney World. The line fills in minutes. Being in the first group through the tapstiles is the single best strategy at this park.
Immediately follow with Tiana's Bayou Adventure or Slinky Dog Dash. After Rise, sprint to whichever of these you didn't get Lightning Lane for. By 9:45am both have growing lines.
Save Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for afternoon. These classic attractions are intimidating to first-timers, which keeps their mid-morning lines relatively shorter. Counter-intuitively, they're often best in the mid-afternoon rush when everyone else is at Galaxy's Edge.
